History

From 1400 to 2010
First mentioned in the 15th century as a village inn, our house is a familiy business with long tradition. The Brunner family has owned and managed the hotel for 80 years.

Here’s an excerpt from a court ruling dated 1629 set up in our house, which at the time also functioned as the local courthouse:
A lady's meal shall cost less!
For a meal, containing neither fish nor game,
› men shall pay 30 "kreutzer"
› women, wed and unwed, shall pay 2 kreutzer less... at weddings or other court business.

"Kreutzer": small coins of silver and later of copper used in Austria, Germany, and Hungary from the 13th to the mid-19th centuries. Court officials used to have lunch at the Stern/Stella at 11 am sharp. .....

That was good old 1629, though – nowadays we like to stick to equality of the sexes!
